Youth at Don Bosco VTC Bombo will now start to benefit from the Solar Laboratory which was launched to train youth in solar Photovoltaics (PV) skills. The Laboratory launch officiated on Friday, 6th December 2019 by Madam Irita from Jugend Eine Welt, an Austrian Non-profit organization which pursues the objectives of promoting aid to youth both nationally and internationally and sustainable development cooperation.
The Solar Laboratory is part of solar skills and environmental education program initiated by Jugend Eine Welt with funding from Austrian Development Cooperation. Currently Don Bosco TVET centres namely Don Bosco VTC Bombo, Don Bosco VTC Palabek and St. Joseph VTC Kamuli are benefiting from the program.
Through the program, within four years, 200 youth are to be trained in all the three centers, according to the program coordinator. Advantages of Electricity produced by solar cells are that they are clean and silent. Because they do not use fuel other than sunshine, PV systems do not release any harmful air or water pollution into the environment, deplete natural resources, or endanger animal or human health.
