Don Bosco Bombo community will now benefit from green energy after installation of a new solar system with a capacity of 7.45kw at the centre.
This is aimed at promotion of green energy with the objective of ensuring environmental conservation and cutting down on the hydro power bills previously paid by the centre.
The installation began on 3RD to 7TH August 2020 led by a team of trainers from Don Bosco VTC Bombo, Don Bosco VTC Palabek and St. Joseph VTC Kamuli.
Similar systems are going to be installed at Don Bosco VTC Palabek and St. Joseph VTC Kamuli in the coming months.
This is in addition to solar skills training for the youth, capacity building for trainers and activities that promote environmental conservation through formation of green clubs within Don Bosco TVET centres by the youth.
The Green Energy Initiative is under the project titled solar skills and environmental education programme initiated by Jugend Eine Welt with funding from the Austrian Development Cooperation.
The project is being implemented in three Don Bosco TVET centres in Uganda namely; St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre Kamuli, Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Bombo and Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre Palabek.
It is a four years project from 2019 to 2022 with the overall objective of Vocational training and learning for sustainable development as a contribution to inclusive, equitable and quality education (SDG4) and reliable and sustainable energy for all (SDG7).
Thanks to our development partners for this noble project
