An American NGO drills Clean Water for Salesian Community in Burundi

An American NGO called “Think East Africa” is working closely with the Salesian Community in Rukago (Burundi) to find Clean water that will not only serve Salesians but also nearby communities as well as young people participating in oratorio activities at the Salesian centre.

Normally “Think East Africa” works with the Burundian government to provide clean water to the population.

The Salesian community, which has been living in a lack of water for several years, contacted this NGO to find a lasting solution.

This NGO sent its workers to do the Environmental study to find out a good place where the drilling can be done.

Father Raphael Katanga, Salesian, explained that “the place was found very close to the church and since then the drilling activities have commenced.”

To carry out this project, the NGO will finance a part and the Salesian community will give another part of the project financing.

“Hopefully the solution to the water scarcity is found. For the realization of this project, the community will give part of the funding to cover certain expenses that will be incurred and the NGO will cover other expenses.” Father Raphael explained.
